EXCELON Booth #: 101 Contact: Joseph Garcia Oswego, NY, USA E: Joseph.Garcia@exeloncorp.com P: 315-349-1799 The Robotic Rabbit was designed, built and deployed in collaboration between Nine Mile Point (NMP), and SUNY Oswego. The purpose of the project was to create a simple to operate easily modified remote surveillance unit that takes our workforce out of the line of fire. The Robotic Rabbit is currently outfitted with radiation detection equipment, multiple cameras, remote flood lights, particulate air sampling equipment and gas detectors. The Robotic Rabbit can maneuver in tight spaces, is four wheel drive and has the capability of raising its top platform up to 4’ high. The Robotic Rabbit uses a rail system that allows for quick and easy attachment of tools, arms, or other equipment needed for specific missions. The Robotic Rabbit has been successful in missions at NMP in effort to reduce CRE, (Collective Radiation Exposure). The team at NMP uses the Rabbit in LHRA’s (Locked High Radiation Areas) while the operator remains outside the room in low dose areas. The team has also used the robot to identify steam leaks that could injury station personnel in the line of fire. As we improve our designs we have kept our eyes on our mission, to produce a unit that is reliable easy to use and affordable. Maintaining those three principles is what has pushed the Robotic Rabbit from a proof of concept project to a tool that is used on a regular basis to accomplish a variety of task safe and event free.
