Session 08 - Radioactive Waste Management in the Post Boomer Era - The National Security Problem - New Realities, New Challenges, New Solutions

This panel discussion focused on the mounting challenges faced by the international radioactive waste management community. A looming labor crisis, knowledge losses from retirement, inflation, major mission realignment, increasingly constrained federal budgets, depreciated out of compliance infrastructure and heightened security requirements are going to profoundly change the way that radioactive waste management professionals around the world approach the business for the next 30 years. A panel of national thought leaders on the labor crisis, the future of work, and the role of host communities provided insight and perspective on these challenges and lead a discussion on potential strategies and solutions.
