Session 032 - US DOE Support for Fukushima Cleanup Efforts (Part 2 of 4)

This panel focused on the US DOE continuing support for Fukushima cleanup efforts. US DOE senior managers discussed the Department’s efforts to support the Government of Japan in addressing Fukushima Daiichi decommissioning and environmental remediation activities.  Among the topics discussed, two technical workshops on the cleanup of the Department convened and the release of a Request for Expressions of Interest for US nuclear companies to participate in the remediation work at Fukushima Daiichi.  Finally, attendees were updated on the progress of the high-level Bilateral Commission on Civil Nuclear Energy Cooperation between the US and Japan as well as US Laboratory support through integrated project teams.
