Session 003 - Featured Country - Japan: Fukushima - Worldwide Perspectives on WM Issues - Part 1 of 3

This panel focused on the policy and program implications around the world from the Fukushima event. The session addressed impacts on both current operations and future plans for nuclear power. After a short opening presentation, a facilitator led a highly interactive discussion among panel members. The panel consisted of high-level individuals from Japan, Europe and the United States.

Panelists included: Kazuhiro Suzuki, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (Japan); Lisa Edwards, Senior Program Manager, EPRI; Charlie Miller, Chair of the US NRC Task Force (USA); Ute Blohm-Hieber, Head of the Nuclear Energy, Transport, Decommissioning & Waste Management Unit, Directorate General for Energy of the European Commission; and Irena Mele, Head of the Waste Technology Section, Division of Nuclear Fuel Cycle and Waste Technology, IAEA (Austria).
