Session 11 - Hot Topics and Emerging Issues in US Commercial Low-Level Radioactive Waste Management

This panel focused on the emerging issues in commercial low-level radioactive waste management in the United States from the perspective of six active members of the Low- Level Radioactive Waste Forum, Inc. State, compact, federal and industry views were shared on topics such as licensing of new disposal capacity in Texas, plans for modifying existing disposal operations in Barnwell, South Carolina, efforts to minimize generation and provide for long-term storage of Class B and C waste lacking access to disposal options, and disposal of NORM and TENORM at hazardous waste facilities.
