Session 017 - Hot Topics and Emerging Issues in US Commercial LLRW

This panel focused on emerging issues in commercial LLW management in the US from the perspective of five active members of the Low-Level Radioactive Waste Forum, Inc. State, compact, federal and industry officials shared their views on a variety of timely and significant topics related to low-level radioactive waste management and disposal, including regulatory interactions, waste estimating techniques and licensing issues.

Panelists included: Brad Broussard, Technical Specialist/Health Physicist, Texas Commission on Environmental Quality; Aby Mohseni, Deputy Director, Environmental Protection and Performance Assessment Directorate, US NRC; Rusty Lundberg, Director, Division of Radiation Control, Utah Department of Environmental Quality; Thomas Peake presented on behalf of Paul Lemieux, US EPA; and Brooke Smith, Senior International Policy Analyst, Office of International Programs, US NRC.
