Session 013 - Progress by the US National Blue Ribbon Commission on America's Nuclear Future - What Have They Been Told and Who Are They Listening To?

This panel focused on the Blue Ribbon Commission which filed their charter with Congress the week before WM2010. The Commission conducted a comprehensive review of policies for managing the back end of the nuclear fuel cycle; including all alternatives for the storage, processing and disposal of civilian and defense used nuclear fuel and nuclear waste. The Commission had conducted an entire year of testimony and meetings prior to WM2011 and had  finalized its 18-month interim report to the administration when this panel was held. Invited panelists included people and organizations who have presented before the Commission over their first year of deliberations.

Panelists included: John Kessler, EPRI; Clifford E. Singer, University of Illinois; Daniel Metlay, Nuclear Waste Technical Review Board;  Mark Nutt, Argonne National Laboratory and Dr. Richard Meserve, Blue Ribbon Commission.
