This panel focused on a sustainable, holistic and integrated approach to structure nuclear waste management, disposal and remediation decisions. This panel had participation from internal and external stakeholders and demonstrated use of tools and techniques to effectively communicate factors that inform decisions. The desired outcome was to effectively communicate how risk is evaluated at complex sites, highlight holistic site level approaches that are protective of human health and the environment, and incorporate policy and technical concerns related to achieving alternative end points. This discussion included existing decision-making tools in conjunction with case studies.
