This panel focused on the successes and challenges of the DOE high-level radioactive tank waste management, with an emphasis on differing regulatory and stakeholder environments at the four US DOE tank waste sites, and UK Sellafield Site, and the impact of those differences on tank waste activities and cleanup progress, as well as effectively and consistently communicating results. Field site and headquarters representatives discussed challenges, approaches, results, and lessons learned in defining and executing tank waste cleanup under different regulatory requirements and stakeholder expectations.
