This panel provided a status update of commercial decommissioning in the U.S., including: regulatory development and progress for power reactors shutdowns and materials. It also addressed implementation aspects and issues as viewed by regulators and operators. The Session outlined the NRC’s Advanced Notice of Proposed Rulemaking for Regulatory Improvements of Decommissioning of Power Reactors. The Session provided an opportunity to discuss national and international key issues and feedback from regulators, operators, and stakeholders’ perspectives.
