Session 016 - US DOE Asset Revitalization Initiative

This panel focused on the DOE's Asset Revitalization initiative underway and planned at several sites across the DOE's Complex. In February 2011, the Department established a Task Force on the Asset Revitalization Initiative (ARI). The purpose of the Task Force is to facilitate discussions among DOE and other site stakeholders to identify reuse approaches as environmental cleanup efforts reach completion, DOE's cutting-edge research efforts and diverse mix of assets, including lands, facilities, infrastructure, equipment, technologies, natural resources, and a highly skilled workforce. This panel included perspectives from both DOE HQ and the Field Offices on implementation of the ARI Task Force recommendations including ARI examples being implemented in the field across the Complex.

Panelists included: Tania Smith, Technical Program Manager, Asset Revitalization Initiative, US DOE; J.T. Howell, Assistant Manager of Nuclear Fuel Services, US DOE;  Jeff Deardorff, Vice President and COO, Community Reuse Organization of East Tennessee; and Helen Belencan, Deputy Assistant Manager, Infrastructure & Environmental Stewardship, US DOE (USA).
