| WERC was established in 1990 through a cooperative agreement with the US Department of Energy. Partner institutions include New Mexico State University (WERC headquarters), the University of New Mexico, the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology and Diné College, in collaboration with Los Alamos and Sandia National Laboratories. WERC s three-fold mission is to expand the nation s resources to address waste management and pollution prevention issues through: education, technical and professional training programs; public outreach activities; and technology development and deployment of new environmental applications. |
